Microship

Microship is an arena shooter prototype. The goal is to eliminate other players and collect the orbs they drop, while staying alive to keep your own.

Each player spawns with one orb. When a player is eliminated, their orbs drop and can be picked up by anyone. If you die, you drop your orbs and respawn after 3 seconds. Each match has a set time limit, and whoever holds the most orbs when time runs out wins.

Right now there is only a solo mode against bots. The plan is to add multiplayer later if the concept turns out to be worth it.

The game works with both keyboard/mouse and gamepad. You can boost your speed, dash, and heal for a quarter of your health when your energy bar is full. Shooting, boosting, dashing and healing all use energy, which recharges automatically over time. Picking up orbs restores both health and energy.

This project started as a spinoff of an earlier idea of mine I made for a game jam, X-Arena. I wanted to keep the same visual world but rework the gameplay into something more fun, even though the result is still very experimental. I plan to keep refining the mechanics, and if it turns out solid enough I may invest in making it fully multiplayer.
